Telephone

Hi all!
Happy 4th of July!
I hope you have a wonderful time out there in the sunshine with your family and friends!
Here are some great tips that some of you have told me about this week.
Josette Pyper noticed that her Adelphia bill was too high, so she marched over to their office to complain. She walked out with a lower bill and a $5 off coupon each month! Woohoo! Good job Josette! If you're ever afraid to express your complaints, just remember...the worse thing that could happen is that they'll say no! Hey, I think we can all survive that.
Amy Phelps wanted us to remember that Regal Cinema has FREE movies for
families all summer long! The movies, dates and times vary from theater to
theater, so check out their web site at
http://www.regalcinemas.com/freefamilyflicks/index.jsp
I try to be a good, helpful citizen and donate blood every other month. I just went a couple of weeks ago, and wouldn't you know it...they now have this GREAT offer for donors that I missed! To help combat the severe blood shortage in Southern California both Chili's restaurants and Knott's Soak City water parks are stepping up to the plate to get Southern Californians to donate. Every participant at every blood drive in Southern California in the Month of July will receive a voucher for a free appetizer good at any Chili's restaurant in the Southern California market. In addition, anyone who participates July 1 through July 10th will also get a voucher for a free admission to one of the three Knott's Soak City waterparks here in the
region. To make your lifesaving appointment please go to www.givelife.org
or call 800.Give. Life today.

Jeanette Cushman send me this tip:
I received a telephone call last evening from an individual identifying himself as an AT&T Service
technician who was conducting a test on telephone lines. He stated that to complete the test I
should touch nine(9), zero(0), the pound sign (#), and then hang up.
Luckily, I was suspicious
and refused. Upon contacting the telephone company, I was informed that by pushing 90#, you
give the requesting individual full access to your telephone line, which enables them to place long
distance calls billed to your home phone number. I was further informed
that this scam has been
originating from many local jails/prisons. I have also verified this information with UCB elecom, Pacific
Bell, MCI, Bell Atlantic and GTE. Please beware!

Speaking of low-life scumbags, this morning I received one of those bogus e-mails supposedly from PayPal. They're easy to spot because they don't addres you by your name and instead say "Dear Valued Customer" or something like that. NEVER click on one of those links and enter your information!
NEVER! Forward all of those e-mails to: spoof@paypal.com and they'll
investigate and, hopefully, prosecute.
That's it for today! Enjoy the fireworks! God bless this wonderful
country!
CENTSerely,
Sister Thrifty
